1.Soldiers 10AM to 5PM 1.50yen 20 to 30 minutes
2.NCOs 5PM to 9PM 3.00yen 30 to 40 minutes
3.Officers 9PM to12PM 5.00yen 30 to 40 minutes
The then Japanese Housekeeper’s monthly income with a board meal is about 13 yen, so You can see that the comfort girls were highly paid.
The nember of the Japanese comfort women were larger than the foreign ones. It is said the 60%~70% of Comfort women were Japanese. Those women earned large amounts of money, and paid off the debts.
Korean comfort woman whoes name was文玉珠earned much money in Burma in the World WarU. She sent 5000yen to her family in Korea, and saved the rest in the Japanese post office, but she lost her savings passbook in the mess of defeat. Later, she visited the Shimonoseki post office in Yamaguchi Prefecture, and the original register of her savings was found.
27years later, in 1992, 文玉珠 brought a suit against Japan, and claimed for refund of the postal savings in the wartime. There was a record of 12 times of savings from June of 1943 to September of 1945, and balance account was 26145 yen. But her postal savings expired in 1965, so she lost the suit.
文玉珠 earned 26145yen in 2years and 3months,which means she saved 870yen every month. The value of the then 26145yen is about 100 million yen now! In 1943, according to the 大東亜戦争陸軍給与令, a monthly salary of Private was 7yen50sen(The then 1yen=100sen), a monthly salary of Sergeant was 23~30yen. A soldier was paid
double when he was in a battle field, so the average amount of a soldier’s monthly salary was about 30yen. So, you can see Comfort women ware highly paid.
